Diamondbacks unable to sweep Reds

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Diamondbacks dropped their rubber match against the Cincinnati Reds 6-1 on Sunday.

The beginning of the game looked promising for the D-backs as Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to push Geraldo Perdomo across home plate and give their team a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

That was all the offense could muster up, however. The next hit the Diamondbacks recorded came all the way in the eighth inning with two outs on a Corbin Carroll single.

Zac Gallen went six strong innings, but a poor outing from Juan Burgos in the eighth inning blew the game wide open for the Reds. Burgos let up four earned runs and was only able to record one out before Torey Lovullo took a trip to the mound.

The Diamondbacks now sit at 64-67 and 5.5 games back of the final wild card spot. They now hit the road for a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers before heading to Los Angeles for a three-game set versus the Dodgers.
