Bodies of a missing mother and daughter found in California
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The search for a missing California mother and her eight-month-old daughter is apparently over.
On Sunday, police said divers found the vehicle belonging to Whisper Owen. The car was found submerged in a canal.
Investigators say they found a body of an adult woman and infant inside the car.
Police say Owen and her daughter, Sandra McCarty, were last seen July 15 after visiting family in Fresno. She was traveling home to Elk Grove in Sacramento County, but never made it there.
Relatives did not know she was missing for several days.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol are investigating how the vehicle ended up in the water.
