Firefighters in Houston battle tanker truck fire on US Highway 90

HOUSTON (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Smoke and flames were seen along US Highway 90 in Houston, Texas Saturday after a tanker truck carrying gasoline caught fire, according to officials.

The Houston Fire Department said they responded to an 18-wheeler tanker fire that had approximately 8,800 gallons of gasoline on board at 9:15 a.m. Central.

The driver died at the scene, and no other vehicles were involved. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion.

Officials were investigating the cause of the fire.
