Seasonal temps now, hotter days ahead
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Desert Southwest will hold onto near-normal temperatures through the weekend before a significant warm-up arrives next week.
Highs in Yuma and Imperial counties will remain in the 102–105° range the next couple of days, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 70s.
While there is a slim chance, around 20%, for a stray shower or thunderstorm Friday night, most of the activity will stay over higher terrain in central and eastern Arizona.
By Tuesday, a strengthening ridge of high pressure will build over the region, pushing afternoon highs back near 110° and raising the risk for heat-related impacts through the middle and end of next week.
