Arizona Wildcats unveil new basketball court featuring return of cactus logo

TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Wildcats are giving fans a blast from the past with a fresh twist for the 2025–26 basketball season.

The newly unveiled McKale Center court brings back the beloved cactus logo a design first introduced in 1981 and retired in 2013 after winning a fan vote over three other concepts.

The updated floor features the signature saguaro cactus set against a sun and mountain backdrop along the sidelines, while the classic "block A" holds its place at center court.

Fans will also spot a special nod to legendary coach Lute Olson, with his signature etched just inside the three-point line.

The paint is now a bold navy blue, with the Big 12 Conference logo just inside the free-throw line. Inside the arc, the wood is shaded darker to create a sleek contrast from the rest of the court.

This isn't the cactus logo’s first comeback. The university tested the waters last football season, placing the design on white helmets during Arizona’s homecoming game against Colorado.

The overwhelmingly positive reaction paved the way for its full return to the basketball stage.

Arizona tips off its season this fall on a court that blends nostalgia with a modern look a visual reminder that some traditions are worth revisiting.
