Marte’s ninth-inning blast lifts D-backs over Rangers

KYMA

ARLINGTON, Texas (KYMA, KECY) - Ketel Marte launched a 445-foot go-ahead home run in the ninth inning Tuesday night, powering the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-2 win over the Texas Rangers.

The blast, off lefty Danny Coulombe, may mark a turning point for Marte, who has struggled this season against left-handed pitching.

Blaze Alexander also homered for Arizona, while the bullpen delivered six scoreless innings after starter Anthony DeSclafani exited with a thumb injury.

Jake Woodford, Jalen Beeks, and Juan Morillo earning his first career save combined to seal the win, aided by Marte's diving stop in the ninth.

The victory was Arizona's fourth in its last five games. The series wraps up Wednesday with Zac Gallen on the mound for the Diamondbacks.
