Diamondbacks trade Randal Grichuk for pitcher Andrew Hoffman

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to sell off their top players ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.

Arizona dealt outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for pitcher Andrew Hoffman, who was immediately optioned to Triple-A Reno.

Grichuk spent the the last year-and-a-half with the D-Backs and was slashing .243/.280/.462 in 2025 before the trade.

Hoffman has spent time between the majors and minors in the Royals organization this year. pitching to a 3.86 ERA in just three appearances, thus far.

Prior to this year, the 25-year-old righty made 73 starts throughout his time in the minors.

There's a good chance the Diamondbacks will continue to make deadline deals before the end of the month with several other players drawing plenty of interest around the league.
