Fire crews respond to explosive house fire in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A house was destroyed and neighboring homes were damaged in a fire Tuesday on Tucson's southeast side.

The blaze began shortly before 1:00 p.m. near East Rita Road.

According to the Tucson Fire Department, multiple callers reported an explosion and flames.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the home heavily engulfed in flames. Crews fought the fire from the outside and set up a perimeter to protect nearby homes.

At least one nearby home was damaged, but no one was hurt. Six people were displaced from the fire.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
