Hamas gives positive response to Gaza ceasefire mediators

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - There is hope for an end to the fighting in Gaza after Hamas announced it has given a thumbs-up to the latest ceasefire proposal.

However, Hamas did add further talks were needed between them and Israel.

A Palestinian militant group shared a statement saying "internal consultations" with factions and forces were completed and "the [Hamas] movement has submitted a positive response" adding, "The [Hamas] movement is fully prepared to immediately enter into a round of negotiations"

This comes days after President Donald Trump said Israel has "agreed to necessary conditions" to finalize the 60-day ceasefire deal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not confirm President Trump's claim of agreeing to the conditions, but instead called for the elimination of Hamas.

Netanyahu is scheduled to visit the White House Monday.
