Cooler Fourth of July brings brief relief before weekend warm-up
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - If you've stepped outside, you've probably noticed it’s not as hot as usual for the Fourth of July.
Thanks to drier air filtering into the region, Friday's highs are expected to stay near or just below normal across the lower deserts, including Yuma County.
Rain chances are extremely limited, with mostly sunny skies and no significant threat of storms expected later in the evening.
Winds will stay light and follow typical afternoon patterns, though we could see occasional gusts between 10 to 15 mph by Friday evening.
Looking ahead to Friday night, overnight temperatures will cool into the 70s for much of the area, offering a comfortable end to your holiday celebrations.
But don't get used to it.
Starting Saturday, high pressure will begin building back in, pushing temperatures upward.
By Sunday, highs in the Yuma area could flirt with 110 degrees again, and by early next week, we're likely to see temperatures climbing into the 113-115° range, bringing with them widespread moderate to major heat risk.
Bottom line? Enjoy the break while you can as the summer heat is about to return in full force.
