D-Backs walked off after forcing extras

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Diamondbacks couldn't quite close it out on Wednesday night, falling 6-5 to the San Francisco Giants in ten innings at Chase Field.

Despite a late-game rally, Ketel Marte's two-run homer in the ninth wasn't enough to push the D-backs to a win.

The game looked promising for Arizona after Geraldo Perdomo reached base five times, including a leadoff single in the ninth.

Marte, fresh off being named a National League All-Star starter, launched his 18th home run of the season to tie the game at 5. But in the tenth, a sacrifice fly by San Francisco's Patrick Bailey brought in the go-ahead run.

Arizona had 11 hits on the night, out-hitting the Giants, but left 10 runners stranded. Merrill Kelly allowed three runs across six innings in a no-decision.

The D-backs will send Brandon Pfaadt (8-5, 5.38 ERA) to the mound against former Arizona lefty Robbie Ray (8-3, 2.75 ERA).
