World’s largest camera captures first photos of the cosmos

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The world's largest digital camera captures the cosmos in a stunning image.

The Vera Rubin Observatory in Chile, along with the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy, shared that its new powerful telescope has already photographed millions of galaxies and thousands of asteroids.

One image shows gas and dust clouds in an area 9,000 light years from Earth.

The telescope, which uses a digital camera, is able to detect asteroids in striking distance of Earth.

It's just the beginning of a ten-year scientific mission.
