President Trump to attend NATO Summit this month

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - President Donald Trump will attend the NATO summit in the Netherlands at the end of the month.

Trump has pushed for NATO members to increase their defense spending from the current target of 2% to 5% of gross domestic product.

That would be a tough task though, as only 22 of NATO's 32 member countries meet the lower 2% target.

The war in Ukraine will also be an issue at the summit. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has attended the last several NATO summits, but Trump has made it clear that he does not want Ukraine to become a NATO member.

The NATO gathering is scheduled for June 24th and 25th.
