AWC women’s hoops duo signs D1

Two AWC women's basketball stars sign to move on to Division I schools.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Western women's basketball had one of their best season's in program history in 2024-25.

This season the Lady Matador's made the NJCAA Tournament for the third time and program history and two stars who led the team to the tournament are headed to the Division I level.

Naomy Zonzon-Huyghe has signed with UC Irvine. This season the France native averaged 15.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per-game on her way to being named a Second Team All-American.

Rita Gomes has signed to play at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This season the Portuguese guard averaged 12.5 points per game, while shooting over 38% from three-point range.
