New findings on colorectal cancer
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Newly-released research shows some promising findings on colorectal cancer treatment and prevention.
The studies were presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
One study looked at over 900 colon cancer patients, and it found around 28% reduction in the risk of recurrence or new cancer for patients on a regular exercise program.
Researchers said that walking briskly for an hour several times a week along with eating leafy greens made a big difference.
The exercise program was found to prevent one out of every 16 patients from developing or recurring new cancer.
Another new study found that anti-inflammatory diets also help to improve survival rates in people in advanced stages of colon cancer.
