One person injured after car struck by train in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - One person was injured after their car was struck by a train in Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. Eastern near the city's east side. At the scene, officers found the train and a passenger car had crashed.

The driver of the car was taken to an area hospital and was reported to be awake and breathing.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police is investigating the incident.
