Dry, breezy conditions continue into Memorial Day

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - If you're heading outdoors this Memorial Day weekend, plan for continued dry and breezy conditions across Yuma and the Desert Southwest.

An upper-level low over southern Nevada is driving widespread winds across the region Saturday, with gusts reaching up to 20 miles per hour in some spots. That breeze, combined with very low humidity, is creating elevated fire danger especially in higher terrain.

Temperatures will stay near normal for this time of year, with highs in the mid to upper 90s through Memorial Day. So while it won’t be unusually hot, it will still be dry.

Looking ahead, another weak weather disturbance is expected early next week, keeping breezes in the forecast through Tuesday.

After that, temperatures will begin trending upward, possibly topping 100 degrees again by the end of the week.

Bottom line: Near-normal heat, gusty winds, and no rain in sight, classic Memorial Day weekend weather for the Desert Southwest.
