Temperatures continue to heat up!

It's going to be hotter than normal with highs in the low and mid 100s this week, bringing moderate heat risks to the Desert Southwest. Get ready for a toasty Memorial Day weekend.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A ridge of high pressure will keep us dry, sunny, and with hotter-than-normal temperatures.

Daytime highs will continue to warm through mid-week, with highs peaking at around 105 degrees on Thursday.

The warmest day of the week is looking to be on Thursday as highs will be between 105-107 degrees. More triple-digit temperatures are expected for Memorial Day.

Daily afternoon breeziness is expected, with the strongest winds on Friday, as gusts reach 15-30 mph, and very dry conditions will persist with no potential for rain over the next 7 days.

The upcoming hot temperatures will result in widespread Moderate Heat Risk (Level 2) on Wednesday and Thursday.

Remember to practice heat safety throughout the day, which includes staying in cool air-conditioned buildings, drinking plenty of water, and if you are going to be spending time outdoors to take frequent shade breaks. Also, don't forget about car, pet, and pool safety as well.

LOOKING AHEAD: Aside from the extra heat this week, we are expected to have another warm-up next week as well.
