Nearly 5,000 people protest for the removal of Baja California’s governor
MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY/T3) - Nearly 5,000 people protested in the Government Plaza in Mexicali for the removal of Baja California's governor.
Families, social groups, and political parties gathered Saturday demanding the revocation of Baja California Governor Marina Del Pilar.
This comes after she said the U.S. government has revoked her visa a week ago.
People were also protesting several other issues in Mexico, with Andres Gonzalez saying, "I protest this way because of the bad government we have, 'cause the situation we're experiencing regarding drug trafficking, the missing people, the executions, the extortions, the insecurity. The governor we have is truly incapable of governing or addressing the needs of the people of Mexicali."
The governor has not made a statement on the matter.
At the same time, and in the same place, a pride protest by the LGBTQ community also took place.
