College Scouts Visit San Pasqual for Football Combine Opportunity

WINTERHAVEN, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Young athletes from Yuma County had a rare chance to showcase their skills in front of college recruiters this weekend, thanks to a special football combine hosted at San Pasqual High School.

On Saturday, R&R Athletics brought its football combine to Winterhaven, drawing players from the region for a full day of drills and competition.

Participants ran through speed and agility stations, competed in one-on-one matchups, and played in seven-on-seven scrimmages, all while scouts looked on from the sidelines.

San Pasqual Head Coach Miguel Rivas said the exposure is crucial for student-athletes in rural areas.

"These kids just need the opportunity," Rivas said. "We've got talent out here in Yuma, and today proves that when you put them in front of the right eyes, they can compete."

Rivas added that he hopes the combine becomes an consistent event, continuing to open doors for young football players in the region.
