Titanic passenger’s letter sold at auction

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A letter written by a Titanic survivor sold for nearly $400,000.

First class passenger Archibald Gracie was one of the most well known survivors aboard the ship on April 10, 1912, when he wrote on the ill-fated steam liner.

The letter sold for $399,000 at auction to a private collector from the U.S.

As the Titanic sank, Gracie jumped from the ship and managed to cling on to an overturned boat.

He went on to write a book about his experiences but did not fully recover from hypothermia and died later that year.
