Diamondbacks snap losing skid with win over Braves

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - The Diamondbacks finally found their footing on Sunday, taking down the Braves 6-4 at Chase Field to halt a four-game skid and avoid a sweep before hitting the road.

Brandon Pfaadt led the way on the mound, tossing six solid innings while giving up just two earned runs and striking out six. With the victory, he moved to 5-1 on the year.

Arizona came out with energy, thanks in large part to Corbin Carroll, who made his presence felt early and often. He not only fired a dart from right field to nail a runner at the plate in the first, but also racked up two triples and turned heads with his speed.

Carroll now owns three of the four fastest home-to-third times in the majors this season, topping out at an eye-popping 10.87 feet per second.

Geraldo Perdomo added a spark of his own, homering for the fourth time this year and swiping two bags in the same inning.

Josh Naylor stayed hot, delivering a clutch two-run double in the seventh to pad Arizona's slim lead.

The fly ball landed perfectly between Braves outfielders, giving the D-backs much-needed insurance.

Despite a couple of baserunning miscues, the Diamondbacks leaned on their trademark aggressiveness, stealing three bases and forcing pressure.

Manager Torey Lovullo praised the team's identity, saying it's that kind of hustle that keeps the engine running.

Relievers Shelby Miller and Ryan Thompson held the line late, tossing clean frames in the seventh and eighth to preserve the lead.

The win pushes the D-backs to 15-13 as they head east for a six-game swing through New York and Philly.
