Tracking increasing winds and cooling temperatures starting Friday

A weather system will move into the region by Friday bringing in stronger winds and cooler temperatures for the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Winds will be a little a breezy tonight leading to stronger winds into Friday.

Tracking a lower pressure system that will move through the region, delivering breezy to locally windy conditions along with a cooling trend with temperatures falling below seasonal norms.

A Wind Advisory is issued for the southwest corner of Imperial County, which includes Ocotillo. This will go into effect from 2 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Sunday for strong west winds and gusts up to 55 MPH.

The strongest winds will be on Saturday with gusts 30-40 MPH, blowing dust will be expected especially in Imperial County.

We may see some passing clouds through Friday, but dry conditions and lots of sunshine will still persist for the next several days.

Temperatures will cool into the low 80s and upper 70s by this weekend with stronger winds and dust for Saturday.

This is when Venus and Saturn will be visible and near the moon and the moon will also have a crescent shape. This set-up will resemble a "Smiley Face."
