Kofa baseball rolls over Gila Ridge for a crucial victory

Kofa baseball stops four-game skid with a crucial victory over Gila Ridge on Monday.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Kofa Kings defeated the Gila Ridge Hawks 9-0 at Dean Stout Ballpark on Monday.
No. 22 Kofa moves to 6-7. This win stops of four-game losing streak for the Kings. No. 38 Gila Ridge falls to 2-8.
In the first inning, Kofa jumped ahead early taking a 2-0 lead.
In the third inning, Ozzie Ortiz took advantage of an errant pick off-throw and went from first to home to add on another run for Kofa.
In the fourth, Kofa tacked on four more runs courtesy of RBIs from Jose Castro and Leovanny Reynoso. The Kings would add two more in the fifth to cap off the 9-0 win.
This win was a crucial victory for Kofa's playoff hopes. The Kings are currently ranked number 22 in 6A and only the top 24 teams make the postseason.
Kofa is back on the diamond next Tuesday at Cibola. Gila Ridge has the chance to bounce right back tomorrow against Cibola.
