NASA astronaut captures aurora seen from ISS

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A NASA astronaut captured jaw-dropping footage of a vibrant green aurora, as seen from the International Space Station (ISS) Tuesday.

The footage was posted by astronaut Don Pettit, who is currently on board the ISS.

Pettit said the footage was captured while the ISS was preparing to dock with a Soyuz spacecraft carrying a U.S. and Russian crew.

Pettit regularly posts videos of auroras, bird's-eye views of the Earth, and experiments aboard the space station.
