Michigan police officers rescue people from a burning home

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Multiple people were rescued from a burning Farmington Hills home this week.

The Farmington Hills Police Department (FHPD) shared body cam video from the rescue on its social media.

One officer could be seen kicking down the door of the rear entrance to the home and crawling through the doorway, while another officer then crawls into the space and grabs a child in the smoke-filled hallway.

FHPD said the officers found an unconscious man trapped between a cabinet and a wall, with a child pinned beneath him.

Officers were able to safely remove the child from the home and directed another man to crawl out.

They dragged the unconscious man to the door where other officers helped pull him out.

The officers arrived just 90 seconds after the call was dispatched on April 1.

According to the FHPD's Instagram post, "Had they not arrived and acted so swiftly, the outcome could have been much worse."

Police say all eight occupants of the house were taken to hospital for treatment while four officers received medical treatment, and two others were put on ventilators due to severe smoke inhalation.
