Wind Advisory in Imperial Valley, breezy conditions in Yuma County

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the Imperial County through Tuesday night, with gusts reaching 25-40 mph.

Breezy conditions will continue each afternoon, with the strongest winds expected on Tuesday. Additional wind alerts may be issued for western Imperial County and higher elevations east of Phoenix as this system moves through.

Yuma County will also see breezy afternoons, though winds won't be as strong as in Imperial Valley. Residents should still expect gusty conditions through midweek, especially in open desert areas.

A cooling trend will begin Tuesday, with highs dropping into the low to mid-70s across Yuma and Imperial Counties, marking a 5-10 degree drop below normal. Overnight temperatures will also be cooler, falling into the low 50s by midweek.

Rain chances remain low, with only a 10-15% chance of showers in the lower deserts of Arizona later in the week. Most areas are expected to stay dry due to limited moisture from this system.

As the winds weaken later in the week, temperatures will gradually warm up, reaching the upper 70s by Saturday and back into the low 80s by Sunday, bringing more seasonable weather into the weekend.
