TikTok’s “chubby filter” removed from app

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - TikTok has taken down the controversial "chubby filter" that allows users to change photos to make themselves look even heavier.

The AI filtered videos start off with an unedited photo of the user before the "chubby filter" trickles down the screen.

It changes the subject's physique while the song "Anxiety" by Doechii plays.

The trend received backlash from users after they were concerned about explicit body shaming.

TikTok said that it has removed the filter and reviewing videos that featured them, making them ineligible for recommendation and blocking them from teenage accounts.
