Former Sun Devil Sanon to transfer to St. John’s

After one season with ASU, Joson Sanon will transfer to St. John's.

TEMPE, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Joson Sanon, the former five-star recruit who spent his freshman season at Arizona State, has found a new home. Sanon is transferring to St. John’s, where he will play under Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino.

During his lone season with the Sun Devils, Sanon averaged 11.9 points per game but faced injury challenges throughout the year. The Vermont native showed flashes of the talent that made him a highly sought-after recruit, including scoring 28 points against Utah.

St. John’s had an impressive season, winning the Big East title and securing a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, their postseason run was cut short last weekend when they were eliminated by Arkansas in the second round.

Sanon’s addition to the Red Storm could provide a significant boost as the team looks to build on its recent success and make a deeper tournament run next season.
