National Security Adviser Mike Waltz says he takes responsibility for group chat set-up

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - National Security Adviser Mike Waltz says he takes "full responsibility" for putting together a text group which included a journalist.

Jeffrey Goldberg, Editor-in-Chief for The Atlantic, was added to the group text on the messaging app, Signal, where plans for U.S. airstrikes on Houthi militants in Yemen were discussed.

Appearing on Fox News Tuesday evening, Waltz told host Laura Ingraham a staffer was not responsible for putting Goldberg on the text chain, adding it was his job to make sure everything was coordinated.

"I take responsibility...I built the group. But look, that's the part that we have to figure out, and that's the part that we...embarrassing, yes. But Pete and I are Veterans. We know these operations. He has been an excellent Secretary of Defense," Waltz said.
