CBP officers find over 1,300 pounds of meth in Calexico

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Officers found a large amount of meth in two separate drug busts at the Calexico Cargo Facility, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The first drug bust happened on March 12 at about 6:15 p.m., when officers stopped a 36-year-old man driving a tractor-trailer attempting to enter the U.S.

Officers used scanning technology and a K-9 unit to find meth hidden in the vehicle's fuel tank area.

About 962 pounds of meth were found in the fuel tank, according to CBP.

The second drug bust happened on March 13 at the same facility. Officers stopped a 30-year-old man driving a tractor-trailer and scanned the vehicle. Seven duffle bags were found in the cab of the tractor.

A total of 140 packages weighing about 704 pounds of meth were found in that trailer.
