Louisiana conducts first execution in 15 years for man who murdered Arizona woman

(KYMA, KECY/NBC) - Louisiana conducted its first execution in nearly 15 years by executing a man who killed a woman from Arizona.

Jessie Hoffman was convicted of murder and rape and was put to death by nitrogen gas on Tuesday night.

This was the first time the state used this method to carry out a capital punishment conviction.

Hoffman was convicted of killing 28-year-old Molly Elliott, who grew up in Phoenix, back in 1996.
