President Trump announces “very good” phone call with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - U.S. President Donald Trump says he had a "very good" call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

President Trump posted about the call on social media Wednesday morning, saying it lasted about an hour, with the conversation focusing on how to "align Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs."

In a statement, President Zelenskyy called the conversation "positive" and "productive," saying he remains commited to ceasefire talks.

The call comes a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin told Trump he would agree to a partial ceasefire in Ukraine.

Despite Russia claiming it would halt strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and Zelenskyy originally agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire, both countries accused the other of continued strikes overnight on civilian targets and infrastructure.
