Five Tesla cars set on fire, investigation underway
LAS VEGAS (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - An investigation was underway after multiple Tesla vehicles were set on fire early Tuesday morning at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas.
During a news conference Tuesday, Assistant Sheriff Dorie Koren said surveillance footage appeared to show a suspect using Molotov cocktails and firearms to damage at least five vehicles, with two of the cars fully engulfed in flames.
On his social media platform X, Elon Musk referred to the act as "terrorism."
The FBI deployed its Joint Terrorism Task Force.
It came amid a rise in nationwide violence against Tesla facilities, vehicles and their owners, according to FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans.
