AWC Women’s Basketball earns No. 13 seed in NJCAA D1 Tournament

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Western College (AWC) Women's Basketball has clinched the number (No.) 13 seed in the NJCAA D1 Tournament.

This comes after the team lost the Region I Semifinals to Southern Nevada last week.

The AWC Matators will take on State Fair Community College on March 25, with the winner awaiting a potential matchup with Dodge City Community College, the No. 4 seed in the entire tournament.

"Just shows the work that the girls put in all year and what they've earned um throughout the country to get another opportunity, even though we didn't come through when we needed to, but it's just really special. This group is special...They really do deserve another opportunity and I hope it, you know, shows forward when we go and play State Fair. I think we have a chance to, you know, to not just be there and be happy. I think they have a chance to make a run at it."
