YPD notifies community of Level 3 sex offender: Jim Desmond
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) is issuing a notification regarding a sex offender in the area.
YPD says Jim Desmond, 54, is residing in the area of South Virginia Drive and West 26th Street, and is described as five-feet, nine-inches, weighing 232 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
According to YPD, Desmond sexually assaulted three children who knew him in 1991, and on July of 1995, he was convicted of four counts of aggravated sexual abuse by the U.S. Arizona District Court.
In 2009, Desmond moved, but did not register his new address, resulting in him being convicted of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in the U.S. Arizona District Court.
Desmond is a Level 3 sex offender, and is considered a "high risk to reoffend," YPD says.
