CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Scorched trees seen following brush fires in Long Island

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Scorched trees were seen in the wake of several brush fires that broke out on Long Island over the weekend, footage from Sunday shows.

This footage was captured by Lou Sussan, who said he filmed it in Southampton Sunday morning.

"You can see how the fire torched everything in its path," Sussan said.

Officials said three of the four fires, which broke out on Saturday, are fully contained, according to a local news report.

The remaining fire was approximately 80% contained as of Sunday morning, according to an update from Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine.

Southampton officials said on Sunday that crews were addressing hotspots and smoldering areas, but that "other than some small hotspots, there is no significant visible fire."

The New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services said fire activity was still ongoing in Suffolk County on Sunday due to dry, windy conditions, and urged New Yorkers to stay alert and be prepared.
