FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: More winds, dust, and air quality concerns to start the week
Strong winds and dust continue to impact the Desert Southwest again. Calmer conditions will be on the way with another round of active weather later this week.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - It's been a pretty breezy and windy weekend across the Desert Southwest. Saturday El Centro had the strongest winds with the highest gusts of 47 MPH.
Then the strong winds moved over in Yuma Sunday night bringing the highest gusts of 51 MPH. Take a look below at our wind recap from Saturday, Sunday, and even today.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is still in effect through the early evening due to winds, dust, and air quality still being a concern for our area.
An Air Quality Alert is still in place until through tonight for parts of Imperial County for gusty winds producing widespread dust.
A Wind Advisory will continue through 10 pm PST for the southwest corner of Imperial County for wind gusts up to 55 MPH.

Breezy and windy conditions will continue for the majority of today with gusts ranging between 35-40 MPH.
Winds will start to ease up afternoon midnight and we will have calm winds through Wednesday.

An active weather pattern is expected this week as a series of disturbances will move through the Desert Southwest. Tuesday and Wednesday will be warmer and calmer with more activity later in the week.
The next weather system will bring noticeably cooler temperatures, widespread breezy conditions, and chances for light showers to the area on Thursday and Friday.
Also, heads up, due to another round of winds, I may issue another Weather Authority First Alert Action Day for Thursday. I will bring more details as we get closer to the day.

On our precipitation outlook it is showing dark green over the Desert Southwest which indicates above-normal rainfall.
I am tracking rain chances on Thursday and Friday. It's still uncertain with how impactful, and how much rain for our area. I will bring updates through the week, so stay tuned.
