Meteorological Spring 2025: What is it and what does it mean

As we get ready to head into the first day of March it will mark the first day of Meteorological Spring.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Meteorological Spring begins March 1st and last through May 31st.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), meteorological seasons use fixed calendar months rather than fluid astronomical seasons because it makes calculating seasonal statistics easier and produces more consistent data.

When it comes to spring we are focused on the flowers blooming and the start of warming temperatures especially in May as our average temperature rises into the 90s.

The Spring Equinox will begin on Thursday March 20th at 2:01 a.m. for the the Desert Southwest, which will mark the first official day of spring.
