Tracking winds and cooler days on the way

Unseasonable temperatures will continue through Friday with a further cooling trend and increasing winds for the weekend and into next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Unseasonably warm temperatures will persist into Friday with
afternoon with highs trending 10 to near 20 degrees above normal.

It was an even warmer day compared to yesterday! Yuma hit a high temperature of 92° and El Centro topped out at 93° this afternoon, making it the warmest day of the year, so far.

A weak, dry disturbance will move into the region on Thursday, bringing breezy to windy conditions and some slight cooling.

Increasing winds will start tonight and continue through the day Thursday. We will have winds coming from the north and northwest with wind gusts ranging from 20-30 MPH.

Keep in mind, these stronger winds and drier conditions will promote elevated fire weather conditions.

After this week we will finally have some relief on the way. Check out our latest temperature outlook as we are starting to see light blue over the Desert Southwest, this indicates slightly below-normal temperatures is expected in the near future.

A series of stronger weather systems are expected to move through the Desert Southwest this weekend and into next week, bringing further cooling, and multiple rounds of breezy to windy conditions.
