CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Smoke on Delta flight forces emergency landing

ATLANTA (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - A Delta flight turned around and made an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, February 24, after "possible smoke" filled the aircraft, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Footage from passenger Kevin McKinney captured the thick haze inside the cabin.

"As we took off smoke began to fill the cabin and passengers began to panic," the source said. "We made an emergency landing back in Atlanta, and once we landed immediately evacuated the plane on the runway."

A voice over the intercom advised passengers to "please breathe through your clothing" and "stay low."

The video also shows travellers deplaning on inflatable slides.

There were 94 passengers and five crew members aboard when the incident occurred, and two people were treated by medics at the scene after landing in Atlanta, according to local media.
