Yuma Territorial Lodge 17 hosts Pit Barbeque Fundraiser
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Locals got the chance to grab a bite to eat Sunday, and it was for a good cause.
Yuma Territorial Lodge 17 hosted the annual fundraiser, which took place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., where they offered a dinner plate, which includes Pit BBQ, beans, coleslaw, tortillas, salsa, and a bottle of water.
Michael Kofta, Secretary of Lodge 17, says the fundraiser has been going on for 30+ years: "We've bounced around. They were doing it [at Lodge 17]. Then, they did the Civic Center for a number of years. And then when COVID hit, the Civic Center was not an option at that time as it was starting to come back. So we said, 'Well, let's do a drive-by. That way, we're not going to do that close contact.'"
Kofta says while they raise funds for a number of organizations, like Bikes for Books and 4-H, the main reason for the fundraiser was to keep the doors open at Lodge 17.
