Latest on the hospital shooting in Pennsylvania

YORK COUNTY, Penn. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A shooting incident at a hospital in York County, Pennsylvania, left one police officer dead and multiple people wounded on Saturday.

Officials held a press conference to provide more information on the fatal incident that occurred at UPMC Memorial Hospital.

According to York County District Attorney Tim Barker, the fallen officer has been identified as Andrew Duarte, and the suspect, who was shot and killed by responding officers, was identified as Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz.

The surviving victims are reported to be in stable condition.

"In total, he wound up discharging his firearm and struck three members of the UPMC staff. One was a doctor who was grazed, the other was a nurse and a custodian who are in stable condition at this time, there was, from our understanding at this time, a fourth individual who fell and did suffer injury was part medical staff due to the fall, but not struck by the discharge firearm."

Roads were closed in the area and authorities were not allowing anyone to approach the facility due to the incident.

During the press conference, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said that resources are available to assist in keeping the community safe and helping people heal.

The governor also shared that his office has been in contact with the White House and thanked President Donald Trump for his concern.
