Tourist trapped in Barbados amid Hurricane Beryl

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Strong winds and high swells lashed the Barbadian coast as Hurricane Beryl, a Category 4 storm, passed through the region on Monday, July 1.

Footage filmed by Keshav Panthi, who said he was in Barbados to attend the T20 World Cup Final, shows strong winds and waves crashing onto Dover Beach in Christ Church.

"Stranded in Barbados due to the storm after the finals," Panthi said in a post on X. "We got lucky in Barbados, storm is currently heading to Grenada."

According to the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Carriacou Island, in Grenada, with 150 mph winds.
