Rounds found at local elementary school
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Police say more than a dozen rounds of ammunition was found at local elementary C.W. McGraw Elementary School.
Several students at mc-graw elementary school are facing disciplinary action after Yuma Police say one of the students took 15 rounds of ammunition to school Monday.
A local parent reached out to us, saying she's concerned the school never reached out to her.
“Her safety is my concern and the school doesn’t think that letting me know that there was a situation at school… scares me,” said Isaura Torres the parent of student at McGraw Elementary.
YPD says there was no criminal action or intent, however Torres is still questioning the way the school handled the situation.
“I had to find out about kids bringing bullets to school after the whole situation after hours after my kid came home you know and told me about it,” said Torres.
YPD wants to stress that at no time were any students or staff in any danger and that they work closely with the schools to ensure the safety of the students and staff.
We reached out to yuma elementary school district one but they have no comment at this time.
