Deputies investigating two-vehicle crash

UPDATE (9 P.M.) - YCSO sent out a press release with an update.

Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon around 3:27 p.m. in the area of County 15th St. and S. Avenue 1E.

A white 1997 Ford water truck was driving southbound on S. Avenue 1E when it failed to come to a stop at a stop sign and crashed with a white 2016 Dodge Ram driving eastbound on W. County 15th Street, said YCSO.

Both vehicles then crashed into a power pole before stopping on the southeast corner of the intersection.

YCSO said the driver of the water truck was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Since the power pole was hit, multiple traffic lights were affected in the area.

YCSO volunteers and Yuma police helped with traffic control while APS were fixing the pole.

This case is still under investigation.

YCSO said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident.

If you or anyone has information about this case, contact YCSO at 928-783-4427 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
