Local fire departments hosts first Yuma Regional Fire Academy

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of Yuma Fire Department, the City of San Luis Fire Department, and the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department are hosting the first Regional Fire Academy this year.

After there was a lack of interest in the fire department, they decided to have a 20-week academy to be able to inspire the community.

For the first six weeks, they will be focusing on EMT training and education.

And the other 14 weeks will be fire based education and training.

The academy will end on November 20.
