YCSO informs community of Level 2 sex offender
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) has released a notice to the Yuma community regarding a Level 2 sex offender in the area.
YCSO says that William Anderson, 60, advised them that he is residing in the 13200 block of East 40th Street in Yuma.
YCSO also says that Anderson is 6'1" tall, weighs 210 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, and is not wanted by YCSO at this time.
In the notification, Anderson pled guilty to two different charges in two different county courts:
- February 23, 1990: In the San Diego County Superior Court, Anderson pled guilty to one count of sexual battery; the victim was a seven-year-old girl who knew him. Anderson was sentenced to one year in jail and five years of probation.
- January 10, 2000: In the Yuma County Superior Court, Anderson pled guilty to one count after he failed to register as a sex offender. As a result, Anderson was sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years of supervised probation.
YCSO further said that Anderson is a Level 2 offender, an intermediate risk to reoffend, and that the notice isn't meant to increase fear. Rather, YCSO believes that an informed community is a safer community.
