Remains of two Air Canada pilots killed in LaGuardia Airport crash being flown back home

NEWARK, N.J. (NBC, KYMA) - The remains of the two Air Canada pilots killed in LaGuardia airport crash Sunday are being flown back home Thursday.

The bodies of Capt. Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther were be taken to Newark Liberty International Airport from two Queens funeral homes for a dignified transfer back to Canada.

The crash between the air canada jet and a firetruck killed both pilots and sent more than 40 people to hospital Sunday.

Investigators said the Port Authority Fire-Rescue vehicle, on its way to respond a separate issue involving another flight, crosses the runway just as Air Canada Flight 8646 was at the end of landing.

The plane, which sources say was going about 30 mile-per-hour, then collides with the truck.
