Brawley keeps rolling with road win over Linfield Christian

KYMA

TEMECULA, Calif. (KYMA) - The Brawley Wildcats are finding their stride at the right time, picking up their third straight win with a 28-0 shutout over the Linfield Christian Lions Thursday night in Temecula.

The Wildcats struggled to open the season, dropping their first four games, but have since turned things around with three consecutive victories.

Head coach Rick Stewart credited the team's improving defense as one of the key factors behind the turnaround.

"Well it's been a three game progression," Stewart said. "Our defense has steadily improved. I'm very happy. We really had to fix some things and the boys have responded."

Brawley has now surpassed its win total from last season and will have a bye week before returning to action against the Holtville Vikings in two weeks on October 16.

Stewart also says getting players back from injuries has also played a major role in the Wildcats recent success.

"Really the main thing that got us on this win streak is we just had to get everybody healthy. We were at a point where we had 8, 9, 10 guys out. And they were all starters."

The Wildcats will look to carry their momentum into the final stretch of the season as they prepare for a challenging league slate.
